In the past two years, we have found that more and more video applications use m3u8 format video because it is compatible with PC and mobile terminals. Compared with video sources such as mp4, m3u8 can reduce server pressure (load on demand). HLS is a protocol standard first proposed by Apple, which can be used for live broadcasting.

m3u8 is a file video format based on HLS (HTTP Live Streaming), which mainly stores the basic information and segments of the entire video. Different from large mp4 files, m3u8 is composed of a series of ts files. Generally, a ts file takes about 5-10 seconds. These ts files are indexed by a .m3u8 file. When the user is playing a video, he can drag the video progress at will, and the ts file of the corresponding progress will be read to continue watching the video without having to wait to download the complete video. Therefore, when playing m3u8, there is very little lag.
We will introduce the technical examples of HLS live broadcast and m3u8 slicing technology in the following article. This article only explains HLS on-demand. Unlike live broadcast, on-demand means that the video file has been edited and can be played at any time.
Since HLS was proposed by Apple, you can directly use the <video> of the Safari browser to play m3u8 format video files on the iOS computer or mobile phone. Other browsers need to use hls.js to be compatible with m3u8.
Using hls.js, there is no need for any customized player, only the <video> element can play m3u8.
Load js and play elements
Add the video element and the hls.js file to the position of the page where the video needs to be placed.

First determine whether the browser supports hls, if it does, instantiate new Hls(), load the m3u8 source, and then play. If hls is not supported, but Apple's native application is supported, another m3u8 source is played.

How far(long) the transmitter cover?
The transmission range depends on many factors. The true distance is based on the antenna installing height , antenna gain, using environment like building and other obstructions , sensitivity of the receiver, antenna of the receiver . Installing antenna more high and using in the countryside , the distance will much more far.
EXAMPLE 5W FM Transmitter use in the city and hometown:
I have a USA customer use 5W fm transmitter with GP antenna in his hometown ,and he test it with a car, it cover 10km(6.21mile).
I test the 5W fm transmitter with GP antenna in my hometown ,it cover about 2km(1.24mile).
