In live streaming, due to network limitations, the picture will be blurred or stuck. These problems are often related to the set parameters. It is not that the larger the value, the better. Reasonable adjustment of parameters in different application scenarios and different network environments can maximize the needs of live broadcast. Ucast can remotely control the Ucast device through the mobile phone APP or applet, inquire about the device status and set various parameters in real time during the live broadcast.
If you want to adjust the parameters, you must first understand the meaning of the parameters:
Resolution
Resolution is the size of a picture's pixels, common ones are 480, 720, 1080, etc. The larger the resolution, the clearer the picture, and the larger the memory required for an image.
Bit rate
kbps (kilobit per second) is a measure of speed, and it can also be written as kb/s. The unit of video bit rate is kbps, kilobits per second. When streaming through the network, the lower the bit rate setting, the less the content to be transmitted and the less network fluctuations will be affected, but the picture quality will decrease. The higher the relative bit rate setting, the better the picture quality, but the higher the network requirements. Setting a bit rate that is too high when the network is unstable can easily cause a freeze.
Frame rate (FPS)
The video picture is composed of countless pictures, each picture is a frame, the number of pictures is called the number of frames, the number of pictures per second is called the frame rate, commonly known as FPS. The frame rate is very important for video. For video consistency, the minimum is generally 30. The larger the frame rate, the smoother the video looks and the greater the amount of storage required, but after exceeding a critical point, the human eye cannot distinguish the difference.
Bit rate type
CBR: The abbreviation of Constant BitRate, which means constant (fixed) bit rate, which means that the bit rate of the file per second is fixed. The characteristic of CBR is that the code rate is stable, and the fixed code stream control can reduce the influence of network jitter, and it is suitable for web live broadcast.
VBR: The abbreviation of Variable BitRate, which means variable bit rate, which means that the bit rate of the file can be changed per second. The characteristic of VBR is that the code rate fluctuates greatly, but it saves space and is mainly used for storage. It can also be used under very good network conditions.
Encoding Profile
From high to low: High, Main, Baseline
High: The level adds 8x8 internal prediction, custom quantization, lossless video coding and more YUV formats (such as 4:4:4) on the basis of Main for broadcasting and video disc storage (Blu-ray movies), high-definition TV application.
Main: Level provides I/P/B frames, supports non-interlaced (Progressive) and interlaced (Interlaced), and also provides support for CAVLC and CABAC, used for mainstream consumer electronic product specifications, such as live video encoders, portable video playback , PSP and Ipod, etc.
Baseline: Level supports I/P frame, only supports non-interlaced (Progressive) and CAVLC, generally used for low-level or need additional fault tolerance applications, such as video calls, mobile phone video, etc.
Key frame interval
Video is composed of dozens or even hundreds of pictures per second, forming a continuous picture, but in a short period of time, most pictures are actually similar. It is completely possible to store only part of the pictures and calculate the pictures dynamically during playback, so we Find a way to reduce the size of the video.
In actual application, these pictures are grouped, and several frames form a group, and one picture is kept in each group. Each group is called a GOP, and a complete picture reserved in the GOP is called a key frame. Knowing the key frame, the key frame interval is easy to understand, which means how many seconds to encounter a key frame.
Increasing the length of the GOP is beneficial to reduce the volume. But the GOP length cannot be too large, too large will cause the picture of the rear frame of the GOP to be distorted, and the recovery time will be longer after the frame is dropped, and the picture must be restored until the next key frame. If the GOP is too small, the size of the generated code stream will exceed the set bit rate, and it will also cause network choppiness and playback lag.
At last
The rough meaning of the parameters should be understood. Open the Ucast APP or applet, and click "More Settings"> "Live Streaming Settings" to set the device. Due to various factors such as application scenarios and network environment, we cannot give a standard parameter to set up all situations.
