MDI consists of two parts, DF (Delay Factor) delay parameter and MLR (Media Loss Rate) media loss rate. DF refers to the difference between the maximum and minimum values obtained by dividing the number of media stream bytes flowing into and out of the test node by the media stream rate in a unit time interval (usually 1 second).

Compared with the general two- and three-layer jitter (InterArrival Time) calculations, the DF indicator is specifically for media streams, and its calculation factor is the media stream rate, not the general physical transmission rate. Therefore, it can be used to evaluate the quality of video transmission and playback.
MLR=(the number of bytes of the media stream that should be received ideally-the number of bytes of the media stream actually received)/interval time in seconds, the result of MLR is actually the number of media stream words lost per second The number of sections.
MDI can be used to install, debug or evaluate the quality of a video network: by measuring MLR, you can confirm, locate and track the media stream loss of the network; use the DF parameter to confirm, locate and track the jitter of the network.
