What are the differences between Mobile CDN and IPTV CDN

In essence, there is no fundamental difference between Mobile CDN and IPTV CDN.

However, in addition to the distribution (Distribution) of CDN, the ultimate goal is delivery (Delivery). In order to provide high-quality content services to mobile terminals, Mobile CDN still has new requirements:

1. At present, the bandwidth and stability of Mobile is still not as good as that of fixed-line set-top boxes and PCs. The bit rate of Mobile's programs is also relatively low. Therefore, IPTV CDN and mobile generally do not share the same programs. Files, generally different files are coded independently.

2. The use of TS in IPTV is quite common, but in Mobile, ISMA is generally used. One of the reasons is that the bandwidth of Mobile is more sensitive, the overhead of TS is still relatively large, and TS is not flexible enough compared to ISMA.

3. Mobile puts forward higher requirements for CDN due to the diversification of terminals and the network environment:

Different devices have different hardware, different screen resolutions and color depths. The CDN must be able to provide content with different resolutions according to the characteristics of the device.

It is difficult for mobile to guarantee stable bandwidth. CDN must be able to dynamically send content with different bit rates according to the bandwidth, that is, support dynamic bit rate technology, and also put forward higher requirements for ensuring QOS.

Different mobile terminals often have their own different players, and the details of the agreement are different. Some players even do not comply with the standard so much. CDN cannot change the environment, but can only change itself. Even if the terminal is wrong, it can only be wrong.

Different terminals and players have their own suitable video formats and codecs, and the CDN needs to be able to adapt to them

My thoughts: The key to Mobile Straming lies in the terminal. Several platforms compete fiercely. On the one hand, the operating system layer Symbian competes with Iphone, Windows Mobile, and Android. On the other hand, several mobile platforms such as FlashLite/Flex and JavaFx Mobile/J2ME have their own advantages.

However, the competition between operating systems and mobile platforms is very high-end. Integrating resources on Mobile CDN and gaining a position in the industry chain is not a way out.

How far(long) the transmitter cover?

The transmission range depends on many factors. The true distance is based on the antenna installing height , antenna gain, using environment like building and other obstructions , sensitivity of the receiver, antenna of the receiver . Installing antenna more high and using in the countryside , the distance will much more far.

EXAMPLE 5W FM Transmitter use in the city and hometown:

I have a USA customer use 5W fm transmitter with GP antenna in his hometown ,and he test it with a car, it cover 10km(6.21mile).

I test the 5W fm transmitter with GP antenna in my hometown ,it cover about 2km(1.24mile).

I test the 5W fm transmitter with GP antenna in Guangzhou city ,it cover about only 300meter(984ft).
