What is IPTV?

(1) Analog TV: After receiving analog signals from satellites, they are all pushed to the user's TV terminal by broadcasting, and the terminal selects different programs by selecting different frequencies.

(2) Digital TV: Receive signals from satellites, pass video compression and digital processing, then pass QAM modulation, and then broadcast to user terminals via the network. The difference between digital TV and analog TV is that the transmitted content becomes digital.

(3) IPTV: The signal received from the satellite undergoes video compression processing, and then the compressed message is streamed through IP to become an IP message, which is transmitted to the user's home through the IP network, so it can make full use of the IP network. Reachability and the superiority of IP network transmission efficiency.

(4) OTT: Over The Top TV refers to video services based on the open Internet, which means to provide services on top of the network, emphasizing the irrelevance of the service to the physical network. Video programs transmitted via the Internet.

1) IPTV uses independent networking, while OTT is superimposed on the broadband network;
2) IPTV has QoS guarantee, but OTT does not;
3) IPTV broadcasts provide program sources in various places, with live TV broadcasting, but not OTT.

All IPTV systems use IP networks for video transmission, which is correct, but on the other hand, the systems that use IP networks for video transmission are all IPTV, which is wrong. IPTV transmits traditional broadcast channels to consumers on an IP network to replace terrestrial broadcast, CATV and satellite services. Although they all use IP networks, unlike Internet video broadcast on the public Internet, IPTV services are almost transmitted through a private network. From the terminal point of view, an IPTV set-top box is needed. It converts the incoming IPTV signal into a standard video signal for display on the TV at home.

1) Continuous video stream: professionally produced content (such as sent from a TV broadcast network);

3) Unified content format (all channels share one compression method and use the same bit rate)
4) Transmission on a dedicated network;
5) Watch on the home TV through a set-top box

How far(long) the transmitter cover?

The transmission range depends on many factors. The true distance is based on the antenna installing height , antenna gain, using environment like building and other obstructions , sensitivity of the receiver, antenna of the receiver . Installing antenna more high and using in the countryside , the distance will much more far.

EXAMPLE 5W FM Transmitter use in the city and hometown:

I have a USA customer use 5W fm transmitter with GP antenna in his hometown ,and he test it with a car, it cover 10km(6.21mile).

I test the 5W fm transmitter with GP antenna in my hometown ,it cover about 2km(1.24mile).

I test the 5W fm transmitter with GP antenna in Guangzhou city ,it cover about only 300meter(984ft).
