Painting with magnets in core memory!
Many people may have heard of core memories (recently related to Apollo guidance computer buzz), but few people have experienced. The project uses core memory to interact and education, which are open to the gate to make more exploration. Core memory is a lost technology that you will be able to use a magnet with it to physically interact. You just need to try it! The following LED arrays take the core into life in a new way. You will be able to create your own core / lightweight interaction with Arduino.
This is one of the ideas that seem too simple but needs to be implemented. Depending on the feedback received from the person who uses concept verification, it is obviously worth sharing with a broader audience as a complete product. Shape factors have prompted the project to become a badge because it is easier to carry and share experiences.
The previous concept verification has been released here and runs with 32 cores. The badge version of the project is formed on the project page and has 64 cores. The project name is a tribute to the favorite 8-bit computer Commodore 64.
What is it?
In the simplest form, the badge allows you to draw on the RGB LED matrix "screen" using a magnetic stylus. In the first mode, you will interact directly with the core acting as a static screen RAM. It is so simple but it is very attractive. When you share this with people, you will start to hear, "Oh, this is cool. Now I understand." At this point you only see monochrome drawing mode.
There is also another mode of operation that can achieve wider interaction. In the second mode, the core acts as a touch overlay on the RGB LED screen. The core effectively acts as "touching RAM". By refreshing and checking the state of the core, the entire array becomes active and can perceive which core (or core) can be affected at a given time magnet. You can release creative juice by separating the core with the screen RAM. Instead of monochrome drawing mode, full color drawing can be active. The core array becomes a fascinating magnetic flux detector. The project has developed to this day, and even a simple snake game is fun.

Seem simple
The goal of the project is to keep the badge clean from the front, so the focus is completely in the core and LED itself. After all, this is the focus of the project. From the perspective of mechanical / electrical / programming, all things can be entered so that you can open the door and make your creativity.
Full control
It is consciously using a microcontroller transistor discrete drive core wiring matrix. This allows you to develop your own control algorithm and fully control each line in the core matrix to truly understand what is happening. It can be seen that other projects are logically decoupled by hardware, which makes it easier to interface with the core, but the purpose of this project is to allow you to close as close as possible. You can choose to abstract interface as much as possible in software.

Almost use
This product will be delivered as partially completed suite. Similarly, in order to make you closer to the core, you must assemble core and wire network to complete the project. Everything else is ready, including magnetic handwritten pen and handwritten pencil. Continuous battery! But you need a welding pencil and some patient to weave the core. There may be some good magnification!
