    How does Sysconfig helps insert a system development

     

    One of the major challenges faced by embedded system developers is how efficient and accurately configure the system. Today's Advanced Microcontrollers (MCUs) include various types of processor cores, hardware accelerator, advanced radio, precision peripheral devices and interfaces with complex pin multiplexing schemes. Software examples provided by many semiconductor vendors provide starting points for embedded design, but developers usually have to modify various parameters, events, and variables to optimize software for specific application. These modifications typically need to review many technical documents to identify and update specific registers or source code rows. This type of manual modification is easier to make mistakes considering the complexity of the code sequence and various naming specifications. The number of updates may also grow index, depending on the number of options supported by the given software component and the number of options used by the desired application. Manual updates may also introduce resources conflicts discovered until the build process is discovered, resulting in a variety of useless instructions that are blocked and potentially. To help simplify configuration and accelerate software development, Texas Instruments created Sysconfig (a unified software configuration tool). This tool has an intuitive, comprehensive graphics application collection, which can be used to configure pin, peripheral devices, radio, subsystems, and other components. Sysconfig helps you intuitively manage, discovery, and resolve conflicts so that you have more time to create differentiated applications. Sysconfig Displays all configurable parameters in the graphical user interface and displays configuration options in the drop-down list. When interacting with Sysconfig, the mouse hover, tooltips, and visual hints can guide you for effective configuration. Context Direct embedding in the interface, and related documents and definitions are exposed and linked to the tool to provide you with the correct information to help you configure software when you need. You no longer need to search in numerous documents and source lines to identify methods for updating parameters. Instead, you can use Ti LaunchPadTM development kits or your own custom hardware to quickly create your initial configuration and spend more time for innovation. Sysconfig is intelligent. The motherboard view of the LaunchPad Development Kit shows the pin used on the motherboard and the extended joint shown in Figure 1. Sysconfig knows which pins and resources are already use, and can help automatically resolve potential conflicts when enabling and configuring other components. For example, if you want to add an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) instance to your project, Sysconfig will automatically find and assign the next available ADC peripherals and pin. Use the plus sign to easily add resources and drop up menu helps organizations available options. Color coding helps indicate conflicts, share resources, and successful assignments. Software view (Z-Stack Configuration View as shown in Figure 2) provides an overview of configurable parameters and displays an option list of each parameter (in this example for ZigBee device type). You can change the default setting from the ZigBee connector to the ZigBee terminal device with just clicking the mouse. With a mouse hover on the "?" Icon, more details about these parameters are displayed, while the updated software will be displayed in the preview pane. In this initial version, sysconfig supports most SIMPLELINKTM MCU's pin and drive configuration, including RF (RF) parameters and Wired, Wi-Fi®, Ethernet, Bluetooth®, Zigbee®, Thread, 15.4 and Easylink And the configuration of the stack of wireless communication technology. It also supports multi-protocol configuration. You can easily update the default settings to quickly find the best combination of RF and stack settings that suits your use case. You can also export parameters to other TI tools, including TI's Smart RFTM Studio for further testing and adjustment.
