Advantages and disadvantages of BLDC motor drive DC

This application note discusses advantages and disadvantages of using BLDC motor driven DC brush motor. For the BLDC controller using the Hall effect device, six steps in the reverse order can rotate the motor to a circle. The Hall device tells the BLDC motor controller which winding energizes at any given time. Therefore, the BLDC controller activates an H-bridge configuration only from a complete three-phase bridge. As shown in Figure 1, a complete three-phase bridge consists of three half-bridges connected together. Two half bridges are required to create an H bridge to supply power to a winding in the correct time. Figure 1 Three-phase bridge consists of three half bridges. Two half bridges will work together will create an H bridge. The top transistor is energized in the half bridge connected to the A-phase motor winding terminal, and the A is connected to V +. The bottom transistor is applied to the bottom transistor in the back half bridge connected to the B-phase motor winding terminal, and B is connected to V-. This will complete the circuit of the A phase winding and forcing the current flow along one direction (forward). Turning off the transistor and opening the opposite transistor will force the current to pass through the winding in the opposite manner. See Figure 2. In a brush DC motor, there is a plurality of windings in the motor, which can only be powered at a time. The maximum difference is that the motor "self-reversing" is performed by the electrical commutator and will control which winding is opened at any given time. Only two terminal connections of two brushes in the commutator are drawn to connect to V + and V-. Driving a brush DC motor requires only one H-bridge to make the motor current forward or backward. In order to utilize the MSK unique BLDC torque amplifier characteristics when driving the brush motor, the designer only needs to lock the controller as one of the six sequences, using one of the BLDC controller.
