Automatic sensing door based on Arduino

Step 1: Get and install the motor Motor selection First, we need a voter IC motor. The electric motor has a large torque and low speed. That's why I use a wiper motor. Any wiper motor on any car can be used. You can also use another DC motor around, but make sure it has enough torque to move the door. Electric power supply The 12 V DC motor I use can use up to 12 A power. This is why it is so sturdy but now requires a powerful power supply for its power. That is the use of computer power supplies. I am using a 300-watt power supply, but it is possible to work with this low / high power supply. It will provide 12 A current on its 12 V power supply, which is enough for our DC motor. To get a power supply, we must first short the green line to the black wire. This will act as a power button. Without it, the power will not be able to start. View the image above to see the wire and how to short it. Door mechanism To open the door, we need to build a body. View the picture above. It consists of two metal sheets. One is 20 cm and the other is 25 cm long. It may also be made of wood, but I am not sure it's strength. There are two points that can be moved. One is where two parts are connected to each other, and the other is where a longer part is connected to the door post. The other side of the smaller part needs to be mounted on the motor. Because I use metal parts, it is soldered on the motor. It seems that it seems not clear, but if you watch the video, everything will become clear. Install After making a good mechanism, you need to install it on your door. To this end, I first screw some screws into the motor that needs to be rotated. Then I got some zipper and then secured the motor with zipper on these screws. After that, I used a lot of thermal glue to increase complexity. I have installed the motor to approximately 10 cm on the right side of the door, and the mass of the mechanism is installed at about 2 cm on the right side of the door column. This is the hardest part of the project. If you find that the motor does not have enough motivation to open the door or the door cannot be fully opened, try changing the position of the motor or change the length of the mechanism. Step 2: Prepare Arduino I am using the brain of the project of Arduino Uno. Any other Arduino compatible devices can work as Arduino Nano. Let's first download the code that can be found on my github: https://github.com/sieuwe1/automaticdoor Click the clone / download button, then click Download as ZIP. The software package is then decompressed and use the Arduino IDE to open the AutomaticDoor.ino file. Then upload the code to the Arduino board In Arduino IDE, you can see the code. There is a configuration portion in the above code, just like the image above. There is a very important variable being a MotORDELAY variable. This decision has a long time to get power. The longer the variable, the longer the time of the motor rotation, the longer the motor rotation, the more the number of times the door is opened. Therefore, if the door is not fully opened or smashed into something, if there is too much door open, change this variable. Then upload the code again to see if it is working properly. Step 3: Make a controller and connect everything H bridge To control the movement of DC motors, we must build an electric controller. To do this, we use the H-bridge configuration in the above figure. I have built a H bridge with a 5V relay, but you can also use 4 N-channel MOSFETs. It is built like the schematic above, and ensures the use of thick lines and high-level components. If you are using MOSFET, I suggest you use IRFZ44N because they are logical operations. After the H-bridge is completed, we need to connect several lines. Connect the coil pin of the relay (second sheet below) to A1 and B2 and B1 and A2. If you want to make a MOSFET H bridge, connect the door pin together as in the relay H bridge. Schematic Now we have H-bridge, we need to connect it to Arduino. Follow the schematic in the picture and connect all other things to. If you have connected all things, place an ultrasonic sensor on one side of the door and placed on the other side. If the door needs to be turned off or otherwise open when the door is closed, switch the wires on the pins 8 and 9. Step 4: Completion I hope this is not difficult. If you have completed all the correct operations, then you will now have your own scifi door! Read more
