DIY a large memory giant 3D print SD card

Hello everyone. You will see some unique and exciting things in this teaching, and you may have never seen it before. We will make a normal "SD card" function, with a storage capacity of 512 GB, which can be connected to the computer via USB. Therefore, from the technical statement, we will create a chassis for the existing USB hard drive. Therefore, by enabling it to actually store large amounts of data, we will be able to make it a role. From the perspective of utility, this project may not be so good, but because we are exactly expanding the SD card size, this is definitely a huge 3D design challenge! Video show: Be Component list: Hard drive (any capacity) 3D printer (or) 3D print service provider Some yellow paper Front panel stickers (completely optional) Some screws double-sided tape screwdriver Background of the project: I didn't intend to find a amazing competition called "big and small challenge", we have to upgrade a small object and vice versa. This caused my attention, I started thinking about the same problem. I started looking for small objects around me (I am particularly interested in expanding small objects, because I have been working in many small projects recently). Fortunately, I found an SD card at the table, which is the reason for completing this complete project. Despite the use of a huge hard drive housing to upgrade the SD card may not be the largest, the most productive idea, but attempt is still a huge design challenge. In addition, I am a five-fold in the SD card, not the ratio. I do this and provide a comfortable compartment for placing hard drives. Step 1: Upgrade SD card Be I spent an hour a serious measurement of the SD card, and later found the exact size on Google. I have attached to you! Ok, I got this - I am zoomed in all the size, then zoom in to 5 times, except for the thickness, because even if the hard drive cannot be placed, the thickness is still too thin. I upgraded the connector slot on the back of the SD card to make the project look more professional. I also enlarge the stickers on the front of the SD card according to the same proportion. After measurement and calculated the required size of the new giant "SD card", I started to design in TinkerCAD. Step 2: Giant SD card design 3.1 Design Challenge When you design some things with your own imagination, you have a lot of space to play. However, in this item that needs to be replicated or upgraded, since you must bind a specific size and need to make some things look like something that already exists, it makes it more challenging. 3.2 My way out I keep this in mind, and the small SD card has been measured and calculated according to the new extension size. This makes it easy for the entire process. So, usually I will first design the bottom and lid into a whole, then copy them, then cut one of them into the bottom, then cut them into a sheet, then convert them into a cover, this is what I usually have to do. Half of things. This is also the exact workflow I follow in the project. I have tried to copy each tiny detail as much as possible. I also put some screw holes so that I can tighten the lids in the future. I use Tinkercad to design hard drive / giant "SD card" housing, because it is a great 3D CAD software for beginners, but still supports some advanced design! After completing the design, I export the model as a .stl file and upload it to IAMRAPID.com to get an instant quote and order the part immediately. Now let the giant "SD card" work. Step 3: Make things in normal operation So now we will actually make the SD card work normally. To this end, I may have already mentioned that a hard drive has been added to the huge "SD card". I am using Seagate's hard drive has 512 GB of storage capacity. We just want it to store data, despite nothing to do. I placed a very comfortable location in the chassis to put the hard disk into it neatly. I only use some double-sided tape to be easy to pass, which is enough to securely securely securely in the chassis so that it will continue to move in a small amount of extra space it has. Then I only used some screws and closes the chassis. Step 4: Eventual moistening There are some parts that really use but interesting. You may now know how far I have gone in this project. I took a more step, even designed custom stickers, so that huge "SD card" looks more professional. I designed a custom sticker for the front panel. I gave it a cool name - "nutdisk". I designed it in Canva and custom printing from VistaPrint. For the back of the SD card, I only cut a few yellow paper and then stick them in the proper position. These upgrades are exactly necessary, at least I think so. Step 5: Active use Ok, this huge "SD card" is connected to any computer via a USB cable, and its principle is very simple (it is actually a simple hard drive). As shown in the figure above, I added a dedicated USB slot opening for the USB cable to make it comfortably. If it is not an SD card, this project can act now as a cool thing in your home, and this is the main reason for the first building this project. It can also act as a cool hard disk box. I suggest you try it because it will be a great entertainment.
