The 3D infrared sensor senses obstacles by ranging (obtaining depth data). After writing here, you should understand that spark's front obstacle avoidance is not a stereo vision scheme, but a technology called 3D TOF
(TOF is short for time of flight, which means time of flight. The so-called time-of-flight 3D imaging is to continuously send light pulses to the target, then use the sensor to receive the light returned from the object, and obtain the target distance by detecting the flight (round-trip) time of the light pulse.
This technology has also been applied to the lateral obstacle avoidance of spirit 4pro.
Unlike the binocular stereo vision scheme, which often senses obstacles more than ten meters away, Spark's 3D infrared sensor has a small sensing range of only 0.2 to 5 meters.
However, its advantages are also obvious - it can be used in all light conditions. Therefore, when spark flies at night, its front obstacle avoidance function is also effective, and it can recognize gestures!

Remove the 6 screws mentioned above to remove the top cover of spark. In addition to being fixed with screws, the top cover also adopts a lock structure, which is difficult to disassemble.

Spark's hardware integration is very high. In addition to considering rationality, it also considers aesthetics in the design of internal structure, giving people a pleasant feeling.
