In this tutorial, we are about to teach the family to use five steps to make an Arduino Clock! Compared to previous version 1.0, this update includes structural, motor, and some code on some code, but we still use the previous basic principles to display time: pointers are stationary, and use the dial to rotate. It is worth noting that it is necessary to remember to mark five scales between the two numbers per two numbers, each scale represents ten minutes.
In this project we will use a DC gear drive motor because it is more accurate than the ordinary DC motor and does not have a slide caused. This original author did not use a stepper motor, because as a watch, its noise is too touching.

Step 1: Material preparation
Electronic parts:
- DC gear drive motor with a speed of 20 rpm under 12V voltage (most ideal, but also replaced with other models)
- Arduino UNO
- L239D
- Circuit board
- Cabin
- 5V regulator
Mechanical Parts:
- thick paper
- cardboard
- 7 * 9cm small film medium density fiberboard
4 * 1 * 1cm small wooden block
- Metal sheet or cardboard for making a pointer (example in the original author cuts a easy pull can be used as a pointer)
- glue
Step 2: Dial
- First crop the two radius of 5.7cm prototype cardboard
- In one of one of the waves, the center of punch, used to install the motor
- Next, cut a paper strip with a length of 37cm wide 7cm
- Vertical painting 12 3cm small grid and a 1cm grid, as shown
- Further painting more fine scale, here you can represent 60 minutes from 6 small grid every 0.5 cm, each interval

- Draw 1cm plaid on both sides of the long side of the strip
- Score each lattice out of 1cm openings and fold into
- Take the ends of the paper strip together with the 1cm edge left before

Step 3: Brackets and pointers
Punch the fiberboard and secure the motor with a screw. This part will be the main mobile part of the hour. Now stick the metal or cardboard's pointer to the wooden block with glue or tape. The wood block is then attached to the bracket. In this way, the base of the clock is made. :)
Step 4: Connection
Connect L293D to Arduino
- L293D PIN 1 Connect to Positive Positive Positive (Enable)
- L293D PIN 2 connected to Arduino Pin 3
- L293D PIN 3 is connected to the motor
- L293D PIN 6 connected to another extreme
- L293D PIN 4, 5, 12, 13 connected to power supply negative (ground)
- L293D PIN 7 connected to ARDUINO PIN 4
- L293D PIN 8, 9 connected to the power supply positive
- L293D PIN 16 is also connected to the positive electrode
- Connect the motor to the IC PIN 3 and PIN 6
Notice! Don't connect the motor directly to Arduino, which is very easy to burn your equipment!
- Connect the battery through the 5V regulator to Arduino
- Input terminal positive battery
- Negative electrode of the ground
- Output Termination of Arduino 5V PIN
Here we recommend using two power supplies to power Arduino and motor. However, the example in the examples used a 12V transformer to power.
