This is my first instructables project, which combines this task using the Intel Edison development board (Of course, the Raspberry Party, I can complete this task) and instagram API, I created a physical Instagram reminder box. I made a careful design of this reminder box, which didn't live up to the artistic breath of Instagram, and the decoration was good.
I gave this project named one-hundred-thousand (a - one hundred - thousand), which you can track the number of real-time Instagram fans, and point to the appropriate position by turning a stepper motor driven pointer. I set the number of fans of Instagram in the range of 0 to 100,000, I believe most of us do not get so many fans Act. Further, the above there are two cassette alert the LED, when you increase or decrease fan they emitting alert. You know, the fans reduce reminders feature but even the official Instagram are not!
materials needed:
3mm available laser cut plywood
2mm translucent acrylic plastic
Intel Edison kit with interface board
Grove Starter Kit (Intel version of Things)
Screws, plastic, wire, etc.

The first step: shape design and laser cutting
My box design dimensions of 25cm x 25cmx10cm, using a maximum cutting area to 43.18cm x 73.66cm the Trotec Speedy 300 laser cutting machine processing. If you think the design shape is too much trouble, you can download my design.
After some careful planning, I often use 93.12cm plywood, below is part of the finished parts.
The second step: assembling the box
The various components of the processing can be assembled as designed, if the laser drilled holes inappropriate, what can be reprocessed.
First, the laser processing two appropriately etching plywood joined together.
Front and rear plates and then compare the size of the installation.
Step 3: Install alert lamp
First, make a reminder light. The Grove LED board with a red-green lights two reminders fixed to a small piece of plywood.
Then on the front panel window as a reminder notification lamp adhesive on a translucent acrylic plastic sheet.
Next, the LED is fixed to the rear plate translucent window.
The fourth step: attaching an external power supply interface (optional)
This step is optional, increase the external power connector allows the device to obtain consistent and reliable power supply. Production process is simple, the cartridge cover drilling after the notification, the power leads to the head.
External power adapter is used.
Step five: the whole installation
And a nut for fixing Edison booster plate and a motor driver board glue on the cut plywood.
Edison mounting plate and drive the stepping motor.

The stepper motor and just do the entire plate mounted on the front panel of the notification box, wiring (wiring and the code matching, can also be custom)

Step Six: Upload the code and complete
First of course you need now Instagram API developer platform application and create APP (free), and then modify the code I provided in accordance with API information you get.
The code is then uploaded to the Intel development board Edison, Edison ensure proper connections and networks. Then waiting fans rose up a little bit of it.
