Each family may not be called true "smart home", but with the popularity of low-cost wireless networks and wireless network equipment, each family can become safer. The equipment in the entire family can be connected and collaborate, and can be controlled by a large number of simple smartphone devices.
As we have seen, some manufacturers connect their equipment to their home-based Internet of Things. Other people make sensors. There are also some people, such as NOTION and NEST, combining them with the wireless interface for mobile devices.
Provide security Internet access for families
Today, smart users have adopted strong protection against our laptops and invaded Internet accounts. But we ignore the protection of a more critical and fragile assets - our home.
With the rise of the Internet of Things, this may be a tragic omission. When it comes to automated and controlling a wireless termination device of its environment, powerful security features must be provided to prevent potential hackers from attacking and other threats.
Samsung's Exynos I T100 considers security during design. The device is equipped with an independent security subsystem (SSS) hardware module for data encryption, and physical uniquely identified physical incomplete function (PUF) for each chipset.
The device supports BLE 5.0 and ZigBee 3.0, which is today's two main short-range communication protocols.
Test hazardous gas
IDT's ZMOD4410 gas sensor module is designed to detect total volatile organic compounds (TV) and monitoring interior air quality (IAQ), all of which can be read through the I 2 C interface.
The sensing element of the module includes a heater element and a metal oxide (MOX) chemical resistor based on the MEMS structure of Si. The signal regulator controls the sensor temperature and measures the MOX conductivity, and the Mox conductivity is a function of gas concentration.
It uses a 12-pin LGA component (3.0 x 3.0 x 0.7 mm), composed of gas sensitive components and CMOS signal conditioning ICs.
Collaboration is the key to the Internet of Things. Notion is a supplier of home surveillance systems, Silicon Labs is a supplier of wireless and RF solutions. As of this month, these two companies are working together to develop a new battery-powered Internet of Things smart home sensor that can detect leakage, smoke, carbon monoxide, temperature changes and movements in the family.
Since 2017, Notion has been providing family monitoring solutions. Most importantly, several major insurance companies (including State Auto Insurance, Travelers and Hippo) are very confident that the NOTION equipment is used because their usage means to reduce the premium of policyholders.
The NOTION sensor is based on the Silicon Labs Wireless Gecko platform. There are versions available for BLE (Bluetooth low power consumption), ZigBee, Thread network, and Silicon Labs own proprietary system. SOC-based platforms have been very good support, including many boot and development assistants and software development assistants.
As one of the bidding concepts of today's electronics industry is "Do not reinvent the wheel", the partnership between these two entities is a successful combination. In fact, as the NOTIN CEO Brett Jurgens said, "Silicon Labs" wireless technology allows our product developers to concentrate more time in the design simpleness and ease of use of NOTITION customers.
Just as the Silicon Labs Internet of Things product marketing and application vice president Matt Saunders described. "The concept is how wireless Gecko platform simplifies a good example of design complexity for our customers, providing low-power, powerful connectivity, and optimal wireless range and performance in single-chip solutions."
Powering two AAA batteries, each NOTITION sensor can be placed anywhere in the house and connect to the Wi-Fi network. Then, through consumers' efforts, they will be able to monitor each sensor via a simple smartphone application.
Samsung's SmartTHINGS, Smart Home Network
It begins with the network established by SmartThings Hub, which is connected via ZigBee, Z-Wave, cloud cloud, LAN, ZigBee3. Alternatively, you can use Samsungs SmartTHINGS WIFI. Depending on the configuration, the smart home device connected to the network can be controlled by the SmartTHINGS app for iPhone and Android, or by Amazon Alexa or Google Intelligence Assistant.

NEST thermostat
The NEST device is connected to the Wi-Fi or BLE (Bluetooth low power consumption) to make each device a homeowner's own Internet of Things node. The thermostat can then be controlled by a free Android or Apple application. If there is any problem in the system, the app will also warn the homeowner.
Some versions remember the previous consumer selection. If there is no counterattack, it will be repeated without clear commands. For example, if you start heating in 8:00 pm and start running a few days at 10:00, then the operation will occur automatically unless the user counterattacked.
Integrating Internet Hazard Sensors to smart home networks with a variety of ways. There is a separate sensor, there is a built-in sensor. Added security, or users can rely on existing protection. There is also a dedicated network for smart home.
Of course, as 5G is coming, there will be surprises for the development of the Internet hazard sensors and their dependence on the Internet.
