LT3972 / LT3972H is 3.5A, 33V buck-saving switching regulator Linear Technology Corporation launches the H-level version of the LT3972. The LT3972 is 3.5A, 33V buck-saving switching regulator, burst mode® operation, can keep the quiescent current below 75uA. LT3972 works within 3.6V to 33V VIN, which has transit lock protection to avoid transient effects of up to 62V, so that it is very suitable for loaded outlying and cold engagement in automotive applications. The internal 4.6A switch can provide a continuous output current of up to 3.5A when the voltage is as low as 0.79V. LT3972's burst mode work provides ultra-low static current, which is ideal for applications such as cars or telecommunications systems, such applications need to remain connected to work and optimal battery life. The user programmable switching frequency is 200kHz to 2.4 MHz, thereby enabling the designer to optimize efficiency while avoiding critical noise sensitive bands. Its heat-resistant enhanced MSOP-10E package is combined with high switching frequencies (which allows small external inductors and capacitors) to provide a solution that is very compact and high thermal efficiency. The H-level version can be taken up to 150 ˚C, compared to the highest junction temperature of the E-level and I version of 125 ˚C. All electrical specifications of E, I and H-class versions are the same. The H-level device has been tested, and it is guaranteed at the highest temperature of up to 150 ˚C, which is ideal for automotive and industrial applications that are often at high ambient temperatures.
