MAX97200 H DirectDrive Headphone Amplifier

The MAX97200 is a 45MW H-class headphone amplifier, which is powered by a single source of 1.8V, using Maxim's second-generation DirectDrive® technology. The Dual ModeTM charge pump is used inside the MAX97200, which generates the power supply voltage required for the amplifier. The charge pump can output ± PVIN / 2 or ± PVIN voltage, depending on the amplitude of the output signal. When the output signal is low, the power supply voltage is ± PVIN / 2. When a larger output signal is required, the charge pump switching mode generates a higher supply voltage to provide a greater output power to the load. The second generation DirectDrive technology has lower power consumption compared to the first generation of DirectDrive amplifiers. The MAX97200 uses a 1.8V voltage stability source, and the power consumption is equivalent to 0.9V power supply, the traditional DirectDrive amplifier is powered. The Maxim's DirectDrive architecture produces a negative power supply voltage in a reverse-phase charge pump. The headphone amplifier is powered by a positive power supply and a negative power supply. This solution allows the audio output signal to be biased near the ground potential, saving the large-scale inch of the amplifier between the amplifier output and the headphone load.
