MathWorks Release Library 5G 3GPP radio technology for the development of new physical layer provides link-level algorithm and the reference standard for the future 5G

Beijing - November 16, 2017 - MathWorks today launched a 5G library for supporting wireless design development, preparation for the first version 3GPP 5G standard specification released in March 2018. The 5G library provides features and link-level reference designs to help wireless engineers explore the behavior and performance of 3GPP new radio technology. With the 5G library, wireless engineers can simulate, assess 5G technology, and their impact on the entire 5G system design. 5G standards will introduce advanced technologies to promote the rapid innovation of mobile broadband, machines to machine communication and car networking. 5G libraries help wireless system engineers explore and apply 5G technology before standard finalization. By adopting reliable 5G Matlab algorithms and 38.901 channel models in the library, engineers can quickly evaluate the performance characteristics of new waveforms and coding schemes, and develop reception algorithms. "The ability to run simulation in Matlab allows us to better integrate into the 5G Working Group, because our cooperative companies are also using MATLAB to perform system simulation and data analysis," Convida Wireless link-level simulation person Lakshmi Iyer said. "To discuss with another member, we need to compare our hypothesis and results, and most of the discussions are based on simulation. Use 5G library for MATLAB simulation to help promote this conversation " MATHWORKS Senior Strategist Ken Karnofsky said: "Development 5G new standard products wireless engineers face huge changes and high complexity. The 5G library reduces the learning curve of 5G technology with reliable, customizable, highly documentated software. Therefore, engineers can create and verify the design that meets 5G specifications and performance goals. " The new 5G library is the Extended component of the LTE system toolbox, which can be downloaded.  Channel model, including the tap delay line (TDL) and a cluster delay line (CDL) channel model specified in 3GPP TR 38.901;  New radio waveforms to improve spectral efficiency, including filtering OFDM (F-OFDM), window type OFDM (W-OFDM), and cyclic prefix OFDM (CP-OFDM);  New coding scheme, such as the LDPC code and control information of the data, for error correction and increase data rate;  Link Level Simulation Reference Design, can measure link throughput. 5G library has added a series of MATLAB and SIMULINK capabilities for 5G technology, including:  Simulate large-scale MIMO antenna arrays and design mixed beamforming architecture;  Modify the RF system architecture, power amplifier, and digital compensation to achieve higher data rate at millimeter wave frequencies;  Automation FPGA implementation for rapid development of 5G hardware test platforms. The 5G library is now available worldwide. The MATLAB it launched is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualization and numerical calculation, called "scientific calculations". Simulink is a graphics environment that can be used to simulate multi-domain dynamic systems and embedded systems and model designs. Global engineers and scientists rely on these product families provided by MathWorks to accelerate the pace of inventions, innovations, and development in automotive, aviation, electronics, financial services, biomedicine, and other industries. In addition, MATLAB and SIMULINK products are based on basic teaching and research tools, which are used in many universities and teaching institutions around the world. MathWorks was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Nnetis, Massachusetts, USA, with more than 3,500 employees in 15 countries.
