Xplained Pro is an MCU evaluation platform of ATMEL, which can completely evaluate the performance of ATMEL microcontroller. The platform consists of a series of microcontroller boards and expansion boards, integrates ATMEL software framework (ASF) driver and demonstration code, and supports data flow. The xplained Pro MCU development board supports the connection with its many expansion boards through a set of standardized interfaces. Each expansion board has a unique identification (ID). The chip can know the information of the expansion board by connecting ATMEL studio 7.0. Such as relevant user guides, application manuals, data sheets and sample codes.

Edbg is a USB device integrating three interfaces, including debug interface, virtual serial interface and data gateway interface (DGI). Programming, downloading and debugging can be realized by connecting ATMEL studio 7.0 through micro USB.
Hardware identification system
All compatible expansion boards of xplained Pro are equipped with an ATMEL encryption authentication chip - atsha204. This chip contains the name of the expansion board and some additional information. When the expansion board is connected with the MCU main control board, you can get more detailed information, code routines and relevant documents through ATMEL studio, which is very convenient.
Power supply
The board power supply of xplained Pro platform is very flexible. There are usually three power supply modes: external power supply, embedded debug USB power supply, and target USB power supply (except for boards without target USB interface, such as samd20 xplained pro, sam4n xplained pro, etc.)

All xplained Pro cards have one or more double row 20pin standard expansion seats. The unified pin definition can be connected to the xplained Pro expansion board.

Xplained Pro quick start
Xplained Pro Series development board can be said to be a sublimation scheme of ATMEL's new positioning of development board, so that users do not need to be limited to the main board to realize many complex functions, simplify the design of the main board, pay more attention to its compatibility and scalability, pay more attention to the user's software and hardware complex experience, and use it with ATMEL studio 7.0 to form a set of all-round market-defined boards. First, you must go to ATMEL's official website to download, install and open its supporting development environment ATMEL studio 7.0.

Step 3: ATMEL studio7.0 will identify the information of the board through the authentication ID chip on the board and give the data related to the board
