Microchip Technology Inc. (US Micro-Core Technology) recently announced its extended high-performance PIC32MZ series 32-bit microcontroller (MCU) products. The new series of devices integrate a hardware floating point unit (FPU) that delivers high performance and lower delays in intensive single single precision and dual precision operations.
The PIC32MZ EF series in this launch has 48 new devices that have a 12-bit 18 MSPS Mode Converter (ADC) suitable for a variety of high-speed high bandwidth applications. In addition, PIC32MZ EF supports a wide range of DSP instructions. With the DSP instruction set, coupled with the double precision FPU and high speed ADC, greatly increase the code density, reduce delay, and accelerate the performance of dense application.
The PIC32MZ EF series uses Imagination MIPS M-ClassTM core to provide excellent performance of 200MHz / 330 DMIPS and 3.28 CoremarksTM / MHz, equipped with a dual storage area on-site upgrade flash memory (up to 2 MB), large-capacity RAM (512 KB) and integrate the widest access setup options in the entire PIC32 product combination, containing a 10/100 Ethernet MAC, high speed USB MAC / PHY and dual CAN ports. Many embedded applications have more than a better graphic display, while PIC32MZ EF configured with LCCG can support a WQVGA display without an additional external graphics controller. The series of devices also provide a fully functional, fully equipped optional hardware encryption engine with random number generators to achieve high throughput data encryption / decryption and verification (such as AES, 3DES, SHA, MD5, and HMAC).

Microchip Free MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and MPLAB XC32 compilers support new PIC32MZ EF series, while Harmony integrated software frameworks are running in IDE. Microchip also offers MPLAB ICD 3 online modulator (parts number: DV164035) and MPLAB Real ICETM online simulation system (Part ID: DV244005).
4 new PIC32MZ EF development tools have also been launched, including a full turnkey-type PIC32MZ EF embedded connection entry toolkit (Part ID: DM320007), PIC32MZ embedded connection with floating point unit and encryption function (Part Number: DM320007-C), PIC32MZ2048EF Interpolation Module (PIM) (Part Number: MA320019) for Explorer 16 (Part Number: MA320019) and PIC32MZ EF Audio 144 Pin PIM (Part Number: MA320018) for Bluetooth® Audio Development Kit .
In addition, Microchip also introduced a new ArduinoTM compatible Digilent® ChipkitTM Wi-Fire development board for the PIC32MZ EF series. The development board enables new PIC32 users to easily access professional applications and various libraries to help achieve rapid prototyping, and simplify migration of integrated development environments such as Microchip MPLAB X IDE.

All 48 new devices in the PIC32MZ EF series have begun to provide a sample and put it into mass production. Among them, 16 PIC32MZ EF MCU devices integrate encryption engine, 12 MCUs have 512 KB flash memory, 24 MCUs have 1 MB flash memory, 12 MCUs have 2 MB flash memory.
