TE Connectivity's SMI Pressure Sensor provides low pressure sensing range

The SMI series low voltage sensor meets the growing demand for low-voltage sensors in industrial and medical markets. The demand for industrial and medical markets on low voltage sensing capacity is growing. From HVAC (HVAC) and airflow to continuous airway positive pressure ventilation (CPAP), ventilation and patient monitoring applications, the ability to detect microscopic changes is critical. This requirement requires that the pressure sensor must be highly accurate and able to provide long-term stability and package compact and durable. The TE Connectivity (TE) microelectromechanical system (MEMS) SMI pressure sensor satisfies these needs and provides low pressure sensing range. TE SMI pressure sensor products include ultra-low pressure (SM9000), low pressure (SM7000 / 6000/5000) and medium pressure (SM4000 / 1000) series. These sensors use piezoelectric techniques and signal processing to provide compensation output, and achieve metric and disadvantage sensing as low as 125Pa (0.5 in H2O). These sensors can detect tiny pressure changes at high precision (total error range 1% FS) to provide long-term stability. The output option is flexible, and the user can select digital output or digital and analog output signals based on application requirements. Options for dual output signals provide redundancy for system security. The enhanced analog output provides a fast response time. The 16-bit resolution digital integrated circuit (I2C) interface can resolve the signal as low as 0.0038Pa, reducing the customer's demand for additional circuits, allowing multiple devices to connect to the same bus (BUS). SMI pressure sensors are optimized for micro devices, encapsulated in a compact housing. The sensor adopts a standard JEDEC SOIC-16 package with a vertical or horizontal port, or an integrated SOIC-10 with a vertical port (only for SM4000 / 1000). It covers a small area and is not sensitive to the installation direction. It is convenient for system integration. Its lightweight design makes medical equipment lighter, large industrial equipment smaller, more intelligent.
