    Texas Instruments launched the industry's first RF power converter

     

    A few days ago, Texas Instruments (TI) announced the launch of the industry's first RF power converter for integrating the MIPI Alliance RF front end (RFFE) digital control interface specification, helping to simplify multi-band multi-radio communication. High-efficiency LM3263 buck converter and LM3279 lifting voltage converter significantly reduce the heat dissipation and power consumption of RF power amplifiers, not only can extend battery life, but also extend call time, fully satisfying 2G, 3G, and 4GLTE smartphones, Tablet and data card application needs. The average power tracking feature of the LM32632.5A buck converter can help it meet the strict RF requirements of multi-mode multi-band power amplifiers under fast output voltage transient conditions. In addition, the device also includes operating current auxiliary and bypass functions, which can minimize the inductor size without affecting output regulation, thereby achieving a 10-square millimeter solution than the same competitive solution. The LM32791A lifting pressure regulator supports the fast output voltage transient required for 3G and 4GLTE. This device helps the amplifier support high output power and high data rate, even at low battery voltages. The main features and advantages of LM3263 and LM3279: • Mipirffe digital control interface enables compatibility with new generation RF front-end chipsets, power amplifiers, and reference platforms. 2.5Alm3263 complies with 2G, 3G, and 4G voltage and current requirements, while LM3279 supports 3G and 4G 1A load; · Minimum solution size: 2.7MHzLM3263 buck converter achieves a total solution size of 10 square millimeters, while LM3279 is 13 square millimeters solutions; · Extend battery run time: efficiency is as high as 95%, not only reduces heat dissipation, but also uses average power tracking techniques under dynamic adjustable output voltage to reduce battery flow consumption; · High performance, low noise: LM3279 lifting pressure is intended to meet RF and 3GPP requirements, even at low battery voltages, high linear and high output power supply. In addition, Ti also introduced an LM8335 universal output extension that supports Mipirffe host interface, which is a powerful supplement of LM3263 and LM3279. The expander not only reduces the universal input output pin allocation, but also helps designers support up to 8 additional analog outputs, using analog control components that conform to the nonpirffe standard. Easy to use evaluation board Designers can use LM3263, LM3279, and LM8335 evaluation boards to test power and performance in 3G and 4GRF power amplifiers.
