The global embedded system solution leader Cypress Semiconductor has announced that a 256MB Nor HyperflashTM product is launched. The device is 3.0V S26KL256S Hyperflash, which is the latest version of the HyperbusTM interface of the industry to support the high bandwidth, less pin HyperbusTM interface. The device is ideal for high performance applications, such as automotive dashboards, industrial automation, communication systems, and medical equipment requires the highest read bandwidth to quickly boot, these devices need to pass less pins. Reduce package size and PCB cost.
The maximum operating frequency of Hyperflash products is 166MHz, 1.8V products can achieve up to 333Mbps double data rate (DDR) read bandwidth, while 3.0V products can implement 200Mbps. The 256MB HyperFlash device adopts a space-saving 48-mm2 24-Ball package, with high reliability, the operating temperature range is -40oC to + 125oC. Cypus's Hyperflash memory range has three working voltages, with capacity of 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB. Cypress Hyperflash devices provide seamless migration paths from Quad SPI to the Dual Quad SPI to Hyperflash, allowing system applications to achieve different levels of flash performance depending on the supporting compatible controller. OEM vendors can use the same design to launch different models of products.

The 3.0V and 1.8V versions will be encapsulated with the market-compatible 6 mm x 8 mm ball grunge array (BGA) package. It currently supports the industrial + temperature range of -40oC to + 105oC. Saraday Cypress will launch a version that supports -40oC to + 125oC extended temperature range. 3.0V and 1.8V 512MB Hyperflash is currently being in the sample stage, 128MB of products will be sampled in the third quarter of 2015.
