Their basic principle is to first push the stream to the server after receiving the request, which can capture the camera or push the local video stream to the server. Now Nginx server is mostly used because it has super high concurrency capabilities, and finally the client pulls Stream to the local, the player finally plays the video, and the protocol used to pull the stream to the local is the HLS, RTMP, HTTP-FLV, etc. introduced above.

2.HLS
VOD is also on-demand. Generally, the on-demand video is already placed on the server, as long as it is not deleted, the user can play it. This is the case for Youku and Tudou. I have studied Youku Video Android, Tencent Video Android, and MOOC. The most commonly used apps on the mainstream use the HLS protocol. A small number of short videos use MP4. It can be seen that HLS is very popular. The HLS protocol cuts a video into several ts format videos and generates an m3u8 file. This file records the number and address of the cut video, and is an index of them. The client first downloads m3u8 and then downloads the video in ts format according to the m3u8 file. Compared with responding to the entire mp4, it saves bandwidth and is much more stable. Although HLS can be eaten on the mobile terminal, it should be said that it is the best solution at present, but the video cut by HLS is short and many small files are generated on the server. This is also a troublesome thing for the hard disk. All the videos are cut and placed in the specified directory on the server, or is the video cut when the client requests it? Later, I discovered that many cloud servers that support on-demand use server clusters to instantly cut videos and put them into memory. Client requests directly return data from memory. This aspect of technical requirements is very high, and most people don’t have so many servers to implement it. So video sites are very expensive.
