1. Disadvantages of OLED

 

　　1) The life span is usually only 5000 hours, which is lower than the LCD life span of at least 10,000 hours;

　　2) Mass production of large-size screens cannot be achieved, so it is currently only suitable for portable digital products;

　　3) There is a problem of insufficient color purity, and it is not easy to display bright and rich colors.

 

　　 The lifespan of current OLEDs has far exceeded 5000 hours, and larger-sized OLED panels have been produced with very bright colors.

 

　　 As of July 2007, the highest performance of fluorescent materials is from Idemitsu Kosan. The red light efficiency reaches 11cd/A, and the life span is up to 160,000 hours; the green light efficiency reaches 30cd/A, and the life span is 60,000 hours; the high-efficiency and long-life blue light material BD-2 (0.13, 0.22) is under development, and the efficiency is It is 8.7cd/A and the life span is 23,000 hours.

 

In terms of phosphorescent materials, the chromaticity coordinates of the red light materials developed by UDC are (0.67, 0.33), the efficiency reaches 15cd/A, and the working life under 500 cd/m^2 exceeds 150,000 hours; the color coordinates of the green light materials are (0.34, 0.61), the efficiency reaches 65cd/A, and the initial brightness is 1000 cd/m^2, the life span exceeds 40,000 hours; the most difficult to obtain blue

 

　　The efficiency of phosphorescent material reaches 30cd/A, and the lifetime reaches 100,000 hours under the initial brightness of 200 cd/m^2.

　　 Generally speaking, the luminous efficiency and luminous life of OLED red, green and blue materials basically meet the practical needs.

　　 From the above data, the current OLED has at least 20,000 hours of working time under 500cd/m^2.

 

2. Advantages of OLED

 

　　1) The thickness can be less than 1 mm, which is only 1/3 of the LCD screen, and the weight is lighter;

　　 2) The solid body has no liquid material, so it has better shock resistance and is not afraid of falling;

　　3) There is almost no problem with the viewing angle, even when viewed at a large viewing angle, the picture is still not distorted;

　　4) The response time is one-thousandth of that of LCD, and there will be absolutely no smear phenomenon when displaying motion pictures;

　　5) Good low temperature characteristics, it can still display normally at minus 40 degrees, but LCD cannot do it;

　　6) The manufacturing process is simple and the cost is lower;

　　7) Higher luminous efficiency, lower energy consumption than LCD;

　　 8) It can be manufactured on substrates of different materials and can be made into flexible displays that can be bent.a
