TELEDYNE gets $ 1.52 million orders to provide infrared detectors for the European Southern Observatory

According to Mams Consultation, TELEDYNE TECHNOLOGIES (New Code: TDY, TELEDYNE) announced on June 21 to obtain a contract worth $ 1.52 million, to European Southern Observatory, ESO An infrared detector is provided to create a first generation optical instrument for its extra large telescope (ELT). During the 54-month contract period, TeleDyne will deliver 15 H4RG-15 short-wave infrared (SWIR) arrays and 5 medium-wave infrared (MWIR) H2RG arrays. These arrays will be used in the adaptive optical imager Micado, near-infrared pilot spectrometer HARMONI, medium infrared imaging and spectrometer METIS, etc. in the early 1920s. The H4RG-15 focal plane arrays have 4096 x 4096 pixels, each array reaches 16.7 million pixels. "-15" means that each pixel size is 15 x 15 μm (about 100 μm in diameter of man hair). The H4RG-15 array size is 6.2 x 6.2 cm, which is currently achieving the largest infrared array of high performance required for low-light celestial detection. 2048 x 2048 pixel H2RG array is a standard array in the field of astronomy, which is used in the NASA James Weber Space Telescope (JWST), European Space Administration (ESA) European, Dark energy tasks, and most of the terrestrial observatory. The H4RG-15 array is a larger array, the pixel reaches 4096 x 4096, with a side length of 6 cm. The H4RG-15 array is currently a mature product, which is delivered to the 5 Observatory's instruments and runs at night on the astronomical telescope in Hawaii. In addition to the ELT, TELEDYNE is also producing a H4RG-15 array of satellite instruments that will be used for ESO large telescopes. These infrared arrays will be manufactured by TELEDYNE in California's imaging sensing department, and cooperate with the British TELEDYNE E2V space imaging department to ESO. TELEDYNE E2V is a leading provider of high-performance visible arrays in astronomy. Many visible light instruments of ESO use TELEDYNE E2V Charge Coupled Device, CCDs. Robert Mehrabian, Chairman and CEO, said: "Teledyne is proud of being an ESO partner in astronomical field, many instruments of ESO use infrared and visible light detectors provided by our company's digital imaging department. We look forward to it Extraordinary telescope can make great scientific discovery.
