Many thanks for making sure our new transmitter arrived in time for our town's high school graduation ceremonies!
The COVID quarantine required the event to be held outdoors on the school's football field. Parents and faculty would have been unable to hear the event with their ears because they had to stay in their cars which were parked all the way around the running track that encicles the field. The regular sound system we had was fine for the area around the stage, but guests who were more than 100 feet away were able to tune to 99.5FM to hear the students' speeches.
You may find it if interest to know that during my test of the 7 watt amplifier, I was able to hear the signal almost 3 miles away form my home!
In the future, our local non-profit radio station will use it to convey live programs (like sporting events and town council meetings) on-location to our larger broadcast studio for re-transmission. Our town is small enough to do that!
